In 2023, EFA kicked-off the implementation of the first-ever EFA Community Programme with the goal to become a European Member Community, empowering collaboration, peer support and mutual sharing of resources and best practices.

The community approach ambition brought changes to the daily work at EFA, as we hired the first EFA Community Manager and reinforced EFA communications capacity with two new officer positions (communications’ management and digital development) to better engage with members, increase transparency, communicate, and promote EFA’s voice, tools and results achieved thanks to EFA community projects.

EFA continued pursuing our patients’ agenda by supporting members with capacity building and knowledge transfer, co-designing advocacy opportunities with the youth, and sponsoring patient advocates enrolment in an international certification scheme. We also put considerable effort on partnerships such as the European Lung Health Group, defining a joint agenda and collective voice. Thanks to EFA facilitation of the Interest Group on Allergy and Asthma, we enabled cross-discipline allergy and asthma discussions at the European Parliament.
