In 2024, the EFA CARE Programme focused on increasing patient involvement to ensure patient-centric policies for managing allergy and airways diseases across Europe. Specifically, the programme focused on increasing access to treatments, promoting patient-centred digital and health data frameworks and advocating for better care to prevent disease progression.
EFA worked on key policy files, like the revision of the EU General Pharmaceutical Regulation. We also represented patients in DG SANTE’s HTA network, the European Health Emergency Response Authority (HERA) and collaborated with the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) on crisis preparedness.
Significant milestones this year include the launch of the 2024 COPD Standards of Care report, which highlighted critical gaps in patient access to treatments and the successful #AtopicEczemaUnfiltered campaign to mark World Atopic Eczema Day.
EFA also contributed valuable patient feedback to EU research projects across allergy, asthma, atopic eczema and COPD, helping shape EU policy and improve care for these patient communities.
