SynAir-G – Disrupting Noxious Synergies of Indoor Air Pollutants and their Impact in Childhood Health and Wellbeing, using Advanced Intelligent Multisensing and Green Interventions

SynAir-G aims to improve understanding of the main sources and interactions of chemical and biological indoor air pollutants in schools, to develop user- and environmentally friendly solutions and disseminate the generated knowledge to key stakeholders. In this project, EFA leads the communication and dissemination activities. In 2024, we continued sharing the knowledge created through the project with our community and raising awareness on the importance of indoor air quality for the health and wellbeing of the population in general and children in particular. We achieved this through the organisation of dedicated workshops on Indoor Quality, social media campaigns and the project newsletter.

As part of the project, EFA is also involved in the IDEAL cluster, a research initiative that investigates the health and well-being impacts of key environmental, occupational, and socio-economic risk factors, with a focus on indoor and outdoor air pollution, including chemical and microbiological determinants, in representative European settings. In the IDEAL Cluster, EFA leads the “Science translation to Policy” working group, which aims at supporting the integration of the results of the cluster’s work into policy strategies and initiatives through the development of policy briefs and recommendations addressed to European and National authorities. The working group published in October 2024 the first policy brief, which provided a broad overview, defining the overarching issues linked to IAQ, the current situation of Indoor Air Quality in Europe, key policy questions as well as recommendations.

EFA Senior Policy Advisor Panagiotis Chaslaridis spoke at Synair-G workshop in Athens.
