We bring to the agenda EFA\u2019s advocacy and activities through our various platforms that reach out to patients, healthcare professionals and policymakers. In 2023, EFA strengthened the collaboration with the World Health Organisation and with the implementation of EU policies for health through the European Commission EU4Health programme and the EU4Health Civil Society Alliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">World Health Organization<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As an accredited stakeholder to WHO\/Europe since 2017, EFA participated in the <strong>73rd meeting of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe,<\/strong> that took place in Astana (Kazakhstan), bringing together representatives from 53 Member States, international agencies and institutions, civil society, observers from other regions, as well as other entities in public health and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EFA led or supported four written statements to the regional committee, which are the only official tool for non-state actors (NSA) to call the attention of the Member States to a certain topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center is-layout-flow href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/about\/collaboration\/civil-society-and-ngo-engagement\/civil-society-commission#:~:text=The%20mission%20of%20the%20WHO,Work%20as%20well%20as%20to\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>WHO\u2019s Civil Society Commission (CSC)<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> an initiative under the leadership of WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The CSC has been established to deepening and strengthening the engagement with civil societies at global, regional, and national level, for <em>#HealthForAll.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EU4Health Programme<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"339\" height=\"98\" src=\"https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/24.-logo-eu4health.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/24.-logo-eu4health.png 339w, https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/24.-logo-eu4health-300x87.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 339px) 100vw, 339px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>With the highest ever Health Programme budget, in May, EFA contributed to the European Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/hadea.ec.europa.eu\/news\/targeted-consultation-eu4health-help-shape-future-work-programmes-2023-03-30_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stakeholders\u2019 Targeted Consultation for EU4Health Annual Work Programme for 2024<\/a><strong>, highlighting the need for patient-centred prevention and improved care policies for patients<\/strong> with chronic respiratory diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June, EFA participated in <a href=\"https:\/\/hadea.ec.europa.eu\/events\/eu4health-stakeholders-conference-2023-06-09_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the EU4Health Stakeholders\u2019 Conference<\/a> in June 2023 which discussed the preliminary results of the consultation. The main priorities identified by most stakeholders mirrored EFA\u2019s asks, with a focus on <strong>disease prevention, health promotion, strengthening of health systems and digital health<\/strong>. The results of the consultation are used to draft a report, that will serve to inform the 2024 annual work programme of the EU health budget.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"657\" src=\"https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EU4Health-Stakeholder-Conference-1024x657.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-909\" srcset=\"https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EU4Health-Stakeholder-Conference-1024x657.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EU4Health-Stakeholder-Conference-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EU4Health-Stakeholder-Conference-768x493.jpg 768w, https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EU4Health-Stakeholder-Conference-1536x986.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EU4Health-Stakeholder-Conference.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><em>EFA replied and attended the EU4Health stakeholders conference that will guide the 2024 annual work programme.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EU4Health Civil Society Alliance<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"87\" src=\"https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/24.-logo-eu4health-300x87.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/24.-logo-eu4health-300x87.png 300w, https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/24.-logo-eu4health.png 339w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>During 2023, EFA attended the four quarterly meetings of the EU4Health Civil Society Alliance (CSA), an advocacy campaign consisting of 33 health NGOs working at the EU level. By participating in these regular meetings, EFA contributed to the discussions about promoting health-centred policies in the EU, but also in the internal campaign proceedings, such as the development of the annual Action Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, EFA co-signed two key documents stemming from the alliance: the CSA European Elections Manifesto, outlining ten priorities to secure health in the EU political agenda and ensure a true European Health Union in view of the next mandate; and a joint statement on sustainable funding for health organisations, stressing the continuous necessity of a multi-year framework for Operating Grants to safeguard a sustainable civil society on health issues. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"764\" height=\"550\" src=\"https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EU4Health-Civil-Society-Alliance-Statement1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-910\" srcset=\"https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EU4Health-Civil-Society-Alliance-Statement1.jpeg 764w, https:\/\/efanet.org\/annual-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/EU4Health-Civil-Society-Alliance-Statement1-300x216.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 764px) 100vw, 764px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EFA generates evidence, shares knowledge, launches campaigns and raises awareness of allergy and airway diseases.
