EFA has published its Annual Impact Report 2025, looking back at a year of stronger patient advocacy, deeper community engagement and growing action on allergy, asthma, COPD and atopic eczema.

In 2025, EFA and its Community helped bring the needs of patients higher on the European and global health agenda. Two landmark World Health Assembly resolutions on lung health and skin diseases were adopted, with EFA supporting advocacy efforts to ensure that respiratory, allergic and skin diseases are recognised as public health priorities.

The year also marked the launch of the first European Respiratory Patient Academy. Co-developed with European-level respiratory patient groups, the Academy brought together patient advocates from across Europe to build skills, confidence and stronger leadership in respiratory health advocacy.

EFA continued to work with its members and partners to call for better prevention, earlier diagnosis, improved care and stronger patient involvement in policy and research. Through the #KeepBreathing campaign and the European Lung Health Group, EFA kept lung health on the EU agenda, including through advocacy towards the EU and WHO, high-level discussions at the European Health Forum Gastein, and preparations for further policy action in 2026.

The report also highlights progress across EFA’s key areas of work. In care, EFA brought the need for better COPD standards to the European Parliament and launched practical resources to support people travelling with oxygen. In atopic eczema, EFA worked with its members to prepare the first Europe-wide advocacy campaign on the invisible burden of the disease. In prevention, EFA brought patient perspectives into discussions on allergen labelling, tobacco and nicotine control, clean air, climate change, chemicals and indoor air quality.

At the centre of these achievements is EFA’s growing Community. In 2025, EFA welcomed new members, strengthened working groups, increased member participation and continued building partnerships with healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, civil society organisations and corporate partners.

Thank you to all our members and partners. We look forward to strengthening these partnerships even more.
