The European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ Associations (EFA) secretariat coordinates the Youth Parliament and supports them in developing their knowledge of EU policy and their advocacy skills to call for patient-led solutions in policy impacting their lives.

EFA is a European level patient-led organisation advocating to improve the lives of all people living with allergies and airways diseases. No decision should be taken for us, without us.

Our Vision is for all people with allergy, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Europe to live uncompromised lives, have the right and access to high quality care, participate in their care, and to have a safe environment.

European Parliament Interest Group on Allergy and Asthma

The European Parliament Interest Group on Allergy and Asthma launched in 2015. Coordinated by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), the European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ Associations (EFA), and a group of forward-thinking Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), we are committed to fight against allergy and asthma in Europe.

The Interest Group on Allergy and Asthma works as an informal group in the European Parliament to:

• Contribute to EU policies on chronic diseases to reflect the needs of allergy and asthma patients and better prevent these diseases
• Improve EU policies against outdoor air pollution and promote action to tackle indoor pollution
• Foster European research in environmental health, with an emphasis on unmet needs of allergy and asthma research
• Inform on action needed on labelling of chemicals and allergens in consumer products
• Facilitate the exchange of best healthcare practices and recognition of Allergology as a full medical specialty across the EU, otherwise patients with allergy and asthma will not receive adequate treatment

The Interest Group supports the Youth Parliament in listening to and advocating for the unique needs of young patients with allergy and asthma to the European Parliament.
