The 26th International Congress of the European Respiratory Society, the largest meeting in the world in the respiratory field, with more than 20.000 participants expected, is starting this Saturday in London at the ExCEL congress centre! We will be present with the EFA stand in the World Village (Space A-2) where you will find our latest material and will have the chance to discuss present and future initiatives with our new President Mikaela Odemyr, Treasurer Hubert Nettel, Director Susanna Palkonen and the Project Manager Giuseppe De Carlo. At the Congress EFA will also be represented by the newly elected President Mikaela Odemyr, the Treasurer Hubert Nettel and Corporate Relations and Fundraising Manager Antje-Henriette Fink-Wagner.
During the congress there will be an outstanding number of events, workshops, conferences and presentation of great interest for the people with Allergy, Asthma and COPD. You can access the programme at this link. The European Lung Foundation has also developed a specific programme targeted to patient organisations.
EFA will attend the Patient Organisations Networking Day on Saturday the 3rd (Room K) and will present two of its major activities for this year:
- the results of the Asthma Adolescents project on Sunday the 4th in Room T-12 , Session 176 Thematic Poster: Asthma management in primary care Asthma management in primary care”, at 12.50-14.40. Title: “Assessment of factors influencing adherence to asthma treatment among 12-17 year olds: A multi-national survey in France, Germany, Spain and United Kingdom”.
- the Malaga-London Declaration, developed within the EARIP project, on Monday 5th 12:45 at the World Village Theatre
EU projects where EFA partners in will be also promoted and presented during the Congress. We encourage you to visit the stands of the projects EARIP, AirPROM and U-BIOPRED (Space B-1, C-1 and C-3 respectively) at the World Village and to attend the EARIP session “Working together to drive investment and innovation in asthma research” (Platinum Room 3+4 / Session 356), as well as the Thematic Poster Session 185 (Sunday 4th, h12:45, Room T-21), where intermediate findings from the myAirCoach project will be presented.
Some EFA Members will also attend the Congress, in particular Liliya Gentet from the French Federation of Friends of Respiratory or Disabled Patients’ Associations (FFAAIR), and chair of EFA Patient Education Working Group, who will present on "Respiratory patient education, the importance of patient organization support", in the auditorium of World Village.
