EFA member Prévention des allergies is due to speak at a conference in October 2013 in Angers, France, on the subject of the difficulties encountered by children and adolescents with food allergies. The conference will aim to develop ideas for action to help this group, and will be attended by doctors and specialists from all over France, Belgium and Luxembourg. Prévention des allergies would like to hear from children and young adults on this subject, in order to have a better understanding of the problems they face in their daily lives, in school and in their free time, as well as how adolescents with food allergy deal with their fears as they grow more independent. Prévention des allergies has also informed us that the Department of Clinical Immunology of Brugman University Hospital in Brussels is currently seeking patients with cat allergies to volunteer for a new immunotherapy clinical study. Four trial centres in Belgium have been selected: the University of Leuven (KULeuven), Ghent University, Antwerp University (UIA) and Brugman University Hospital (CHU Brugman). The treatment is targeted at patients with rhinoconjunctivitis and mild asthma, possibly secondary to cat allergy.
