EARIP in action

More than 20 partners’ representatives gathered during the ERS Congress to present Work Packages evolution of European Asthma Research Innovation Partnership (EARIP) and several workshops held by EARIP on fundamental issues in asthma care, such as diagnosis and self-management tools. EFA’s Susanna Palkonen presented in the partners meeting on the status of the literature review on national asthma programmes, which has been drafted thanks to collaborative spirit of our so-authors and the leadership of Dr. Olof Selroos and Prof. Tari Haahtela The review is a key deliverable in the work package EFA is leading, setting the scene for stakeholder workshop 2015 to discuss healthcare change in asthma in Europe. EFA presented in the workshop led by Prof Nikos Papadopoulos discussing the vision for the EARIP. EFA believes that the needs of patients must be at the core of it; innovation in care, prevention, cure, access. [caption id="attachment_5925" align="aligncenter" width="614"]04. During the ERS Congress, AirPROM had a prominent role presenting several findings and experiences regarding lung modelling and collaborative projects in Europe. As a consortium partner in this EU funded project, EFA contributed to showcasing the results during Congress with a brand new project leaflet and preparing some interviews with key expert scientists involved in the project, as a way to disseminate the results to a wider public. We take here the opportunity to congratulate Professor Chris Brightling, AirPROM project coordinator, for receiving the ERS Romain Pauwels Research Award 2014. Professor Kian Fan Chung, who is also involved in U-BIOPRED also received the ERS Sadoul Lecture 2014.

U-BIOPRED Patients Input Platform

U-BIOPRED activities at Congress were of special interest for patients. ERS Congress brought the opportunity for U-BIOPRED to participate in its biggest event to date, in terms of audiences and activities (project members presented in 14 occasions) and to launch a new project update booklet. Moreover, the patient perspective was more than present thanks to the prominent role that the Patients Input Platform (PIP) has in this project. PIP is a fundamental piece within U-BIOPRED to bring the patients voice and experiences at the core of the research. David Supple, PIP chair and representative at Congress, presented in the collaborative projects session. Other PIP members, like Martine Puhl, featured their patient visions online.
