The 3rd myAirCoach partner meeting took place at the National Heart and Lung Institute in London on 17th and 18th November. During these two days the project partners, together with members of the Patient Advisory Forum, shared and discussed the recent developments and future actions of myAirCoach now that first year of project activity is coming to an end.
Asthma UK updated the attendees on the focus groups which took place in London, Manchester and the Netherlands with the aim of identifying patients’ requirements for the mobile Health device that myAirCoach will develop. These focus groups involved 17 asthma patients and 5 healthcare professionals and the results contributed to the development of a survey that will be sent to 200 patients and healthcare professionals. The results of this survey will help in guiding the design of the final device.
The partners in charge of the technical aspects of myAirCoach presented their approaches and the current state of development of the inhaler based sensor, as well as the required software components for their intelligent information processing of measurements collected.
The first results of modelling were presented: both for the understanding of airflow within the lungs of patients, and the concentration of pollution particles that may trigger an asthma attack.
Finally, the first version of an interactive 3D environment for the presentation of inhaler instructions was presented and discussed.
