COPD is among the most common chronic diseases in people over 45 years and one of the leading causes of death. However, the disease is commonly goes unrecognized. To mark World COPD Day on 18th November Асоциация на Българите Боледуващи от Астма (the Association of Bulgarians with Bronchial Asthma, Allergy and COPD) held an event in the National Assembly building. At the event a White Paper on pulmonary disease was launched by ABBA together with the Bulgarian Society of lung diseases, and spirometry testing was also available.
The event was part of the campaign of evropeĭskata COPD COALITION CALLING FOR ACTION IN 2015 This action is to inform the politicians at European and national level about COPD and the necessary steps which need to be taken to reduce premature deaths and implement national strategic plans.
