BREATH is one of five chapters of the DZL (German Centre for Lung Research) and means "Biomedical Research in Endstage and Obstructive Lung Diseases Hannover". The faculty has some 50 pneumologists, cardiologist and other researchers.
At January’s Annual General Meeting of the faculty of BREATH they elected COPD Patient Advocate Miachael Wilken, and representative of EFA’s Patientenliga Atemwegserkrankungen (German member German League of Respiratory Diseases’ Patients), to join their steering committee. www.breath-hannover.de
The steering committee of BREATH decides the research priorities and is responsible for the budget. This is a great opportunity for patients’ views on research to be represented and shows how patients’ views are now respected and sought for inclusion by other stakeholders, it’s an exciting development in highlighting the views and voice of patients.
