How are the value and effectiveness of health systems measured? How should we measure it?
Patients think that any measure should be patient centred, measuring things that help patients to stay active, at home and go about their lives as part of the society, which in turn is great for European economies. One tool is patient reported outcomes (PROs), still too rarely used, too few available, which is why we need to develop more together with patients. This was the main message EFA Director Susanna Palkonen conveyed at an event at the European Parliament of a collaborative group of stakeholders; patients, academics, pharma and medical technologies industry.
The event launched the Enhancing Value in European Health Systems, and was greatly appreciated by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) attending as well as by European Commission DG SANTE. Susanna Palkonen represented the European Patient Forum at the event.
