The EU Health programme was subject of mid-term evaluation during the 20th European Health Forum Gastein that took place the 4th-6th of October.
During the evaluation, Martin Seychell, Deputy Director-General of Health and Food Safety called for a stronger DG SANTÉ (General Direction for Health). He raised the need for additional units and staff for DG SANTÉ, to be able to improve the DG work on health.
His words resonated with the pledged launched by EPHA and EPF together with EFA and other health organisations, asking for a better and coordinated EU action to tackle cross-border health challenges. The call has been now signed by 222 associations
During the Gastein meeting titled “Health in All Politics – a better future for Europe”, many issues linked to health were considered and discussed, like the specifics of intellectual property rights for medical innovation to joint efforts to foster trust in public institutions on all levels, within and beyond the European health sector.
Finally, the European Commission has published its analysis about the 3rd Health Programme. Learn more in the following link: https://ec.europa.eu/health/programme/policy/2014-2020/midterm_evaluation_en?platform=hootsuite
