EFA members have got to know the Finnish federation for being specialised in allergies and asthma. After being united with the Finnish Association for Skin Patients in March 2017, the target group of the Federation now also includes a wider group of skin diseases, including rare skin diseases. Our member is now called ’Finnish Allergy, Skin and Asthma Federation’.

Every third Finn is sensitive to scents
The new Finnish Allergy, Skin and Asthma Federation organised its fourth ‘Scentless’ campaign in the beginning of November. The goal of the campaign was to influence public opinion and to grow peoples’ understanding about the scent sensitivities.
According to a new study published by the Federation every third Finn estimates her/himself as sensitive to scents. This means 1.8 million people. Almost a third of them regards themselves as ‘strongly sensitized’.
During the campaign the Federation presented the results of this study and reminded how scents can also cause strong symptoms among the sensitised people. Social media was kept buzzing causing lots of media hits for the campaign. Television, radio and print media gave good coverage for the cause and gave visibility for the sensitized people and their experiences.
